The CHW Capacity Building Center has listened to CHWs across the state as they have asked for a space to find CHW training opportunities easily. IPHA is attempting to help accommodate this request with a training calendar and listings of training sites on this page. Click on the boxes below to find out more information about CHW training opportunities.  

 

General CHW Training is the first step in becoming a CHW. General CHW Trainings Programs listed below have been reviewed to ensure that the training incorporate the 13 CHW Core Competencies. General CHW Training can occur in as little as 40 hours or take one semester- depending on the program you attend. Below is a link to the General CHW Trainings in Illinois that IPHA has reviewed for inclusion of the CHW Core Competencies. If you have another General CHW training that you would like IPHA to review please email the team at CHWSupport@ipha.com and in the subject line write: CHW General 101 Existing Site

Participants will receive a pay of $15/hour for up to 20 hours/week for the 6 weeks in addition to up to $600 to complete our research study activities.

 

Students MUST:

  • Reside in Chicago and should select either “Phalanx Family Services” as their Worksite (if they live on the Southside) OR “Community Television Network – Westside” as their Worksite (if they live on the Westside).
     

  • Complete the One Summer Chicago application before Friday, June 2nd.
     

  • Email us at macarthuryouthproject@gmail.com or call/text
    (217) 301-9445 to let us know that they have completed their application (this will allow us to pull the selected students).
